The First Whiffs of a Middle Class Tax Increase

Robert Gibbs at yesterday's press briefing.

Q That may be true, but the President on the campaign said that -- he made a flat pledge that he would not raise taxes on anybody making under $250,000. So is that pledge still operable?

MR. GIBBS: Well, again, I think in some ways your question is hypothetical because there are any number of different bills, different proposals. I think the President has outlined what he believes is the very best way to pay for health care.

Q It doesn't have to be hypothetical. He made a pledge --

MR. GIBBS: I understand.

Q -- he said, I am not going to raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000. Is that pledge still active?

MR. GIBBS: We are going to let the process work its way through.

Q So it's not.

Q So it's not.

Q So it's not. (Laughter.)

MR. GIBBS: We're going to let the process work its way through. All right?

You have that awfully perplexed look on your face, Mr. Garrett.

Q Well, what would be the reason for reversing among the most conspicuous, if not the most conspicuous, campaign promise that this candidate Obama repeated everywhere across the country?

MR. GIBBS: Well, I appreciate the indulgence to get into these hypothetical questions months before we're likely to do that. It is rich to watch the fact that we're making so little progress on health care reform that you've asked me if the President is going to sign the bill that's not at his desk. Let's --

Q We didn't ask you about signing the bill --

MR. GIBBS: No, no --

Q And there's nothing hypothetical about reaffirming a campaign promise.

MR. GIBBS: It is in the sense that we're not facing any sort of decision on this. We're letting Congress work many of these issues through. And we're making progress.

Q But, historically, administrations that make such conspicuous promises tell Congress, you can do this, this, and this, but don't go there because it's not something we're going to do.

MR. GIBBS: And I think the President in his principles and in the $948 billion to finance health care reform has laid out pretty clearly what his financing mechanism would be. Which --

Q Then why not take the opportunity provided by Ed to reassure the American public that the campaign promise still stands?

MR. GIBBS: -- any increase in revenue would affect top wage-earners' charitable deductions, returning them to the rates of the Regan administration.

Yes, ma'am.

"Yes ma'am" means he moved on to another question.

Anti-Global Warming Bombshell

Read this entry at Powerlineblog and understand why everything that Obama and the democrats propose is rammed through before the public can understand what the hell is going on.

Obama's not going to let a little thing like facts get in the way of the climate bill steamroller. Read the whole story.

“The time for such discussion of fundamental issues has passed for
this round. The administrator and the administration has decided to move forward on endangerment, and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision.
…. I can only see one impact of your comments given where we
are in the process, and that would be a very negative impact on our office.”

The two embedded emails are particularly revealing.

Global warming is a hoax perpetrated by the Obama administration and any science revealing such is silenced like a Russian peasant in a Siberian gulag.

Please read it. It won't be in the Sunday papers I guarantee that.

Incidentally, the world (outside of the phony IPCC idiots) has decided it's time to give credence to the mounting overwhelming evidence against anthropogenic global warming.

via WSJ.com

700 scientists who disagree with the U.N. -- 13 times the number who authored the U.N.'s 2007 climate summary for policymakers. Joanne Simpson, the world's first woman to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology, expressed relief upon her retirement last year that she was finally free to speak "frankly" of hernonbelief. Dr. Kiminori Itoh, a Japanese environmental physical chemist who contributed to a U.N. climate report, dubs man-made warming "the worst scientific scandal in history." Norway's Ivar Giaever, Nobel Prize winner forphysics, decries it as the "new religion." A group of 54 noted physicists, led by Princeton's Will Happer, is demanding the American Physical Society revise its position that the science is settled. (Both Nature and Science magazines have refused to run the physicists' open letter.)

Hey, I thought Obama was our "global president".

Sorry, he's behind the curve again.

The Climate Change Bill Worth Trillions - Read by not One Congressman

Washington is a joke. A sad, sad joke on all of us. Prepare to see the economy, already on life support take its last breath.

15 Reasons to Not Pass the "Climate Bill".

Another laugh up their sleeve big government trick that will make politicians and their friends unbelievably rich and my offspring devastatingly overtaxed.

First they came for the professors

The left is having a bit of trouble in our country justifying its support for their beloved Barack as they watch him play a "hands off" role in the election fraud and totalitarian violence against protesters in Iran. A large part of that left is academia. Perhaps now our Emperor's lack of clothing on this issue can be pointed out.

Appointment Media, the Hopey Changey Way

Is the media in bed with the President? Is it possible that the President is directing his press conferences by asking certain reporters to ask certain questions at a certain time?

No way!

Yes way.

In what appeared to be a coordinated exchange, President Obama called on the Huffington Post's Nico Pitney near the start of his press conference and requested a question directly about Iran.
“Nico, I know you and all across the Internet, we've been seeing a lot of reports coming out of Iran,” Obama said, addressing Pitney. “I know there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?”

Pitney, as if ignoring what Obama had just said, said: “I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian.”

Jourtegrity lost, again.

Someone needs to grow a set.

Our President has said nothing about the obvious election fraud in Iran. He has not supported the dissidents and has only mildly chided the Iranian government for its violence against the protesters. Obama has stated that he has remained effectively silent so as not to become "the foil" of the Iranians. What?

People seeking freedom and justice need to know they are not alone. They need to know that the greatest democracy on planet earth is behind them 100%. Anything less is cowardice and appeasement. We know what appeasement does in situations like this.
It emboldens tyrants.

Obama loves to quote Martin Luther King. Try this one on for size President Obama.

"We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends"

Bush's No Child Left Behind a Big Success

This startling report came out this week and bears out that the No Child Left Behind act, a big part of President Bush's domestic legacy, is a tremendous success. Had you listened only to democrat presidential candidates and our DNC talking points main stream media you would have been convinced that the NCLB act was a demonic bill foisted upon us by "the worst president ever"

Sorry.

The 50-state analysis found that test scores for both "advanced" and "basic" students rose in nearly three-quarters of assessments studied across states and grade levels, a level of progress only slightly lower than that of students reaching proficiency.

I missed this story in the main stream media this week. However, had the data been the opposite you can bet it would have been trumpeted everywhere.

NBC is happy to make up facts to protect Obama

On the NBC evening news tonight an opportunity arose to jab former President George Bush. The ever-smarmy Brian Williams stated: "Former President Bush attacked the Obama administration for the first time today. He claimed the "economy will rebound through the private sector". (nasty stuff) However, Bush's critics were quick to remind Bush that he signed the 787 Billion dollar financial bailout bill into law."

Sorry Brian, the 787 Billion dollar stimulus bill was signed into law by it's creator Barack Obama on Feb 13th, 34 days after President Bush left office. The financial bailout was $350 billion, the second $350 billion was requested by President elect Obama and signed as a favor to an incoming president in January. Count 'em both if you like, but it still is $87 billion short of your massive "gotcha" report.

No retraction of this egregious error of fact by the end of the program. It will probably never be corrected. Who cares? The state run media says what it wants and we are supposed to believe it!

Accuracy is so unnecessary when it's the job of the media to crush George Bush and bolster Teh One.
.

Every Day a Laugh Riot

Perhaps you're a little concerned that ABC News will be broadcasting a Pro-Obama healthcare PrimeTime special next week shilling the President's highly flawed healthcare plan...from the White House.

Perhaps you're a little concerned that NBC news special assignment reporter Tom Brokaw interviewed Obama on June 5th and was appointed yesterday to an official Government position.

Perhaps you're a little concerned that the main stream media (including the two networks listed above) are not interested in the violation of law by President Obama reccently when he fired an Inspector General with no just cause and without 30 day notice.

Perhaps you're concerned that sweeping nanny government changes have been introduced and in some cases enacted by Obama that will create an inflationary response unseen in our history, without media or public scrutiny.

The perhapses could go on forever as the 3 chimp media - see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil of Obama have totally caved and gone from watchdog to lapdog.

The media is more concerned with Obama swatting a fly, Michelle harvesting a head of lettuce and if the President likes mustard on his burgers than the immensely important issues of the day both domestic and foreign.

If this lack of seriousness and inquisitiveness in the 4th estate concerns you the following will only make your blood boil more.

The daily press briefing from the White House with Robert Gibbs at the helm is the closest thing we have to a daily governmental frat party. Everything is inside jokes and frat boy ridicule. Not a single fact or insight comes from Gibbs and the lapdogs are all in on the joke

Q I understand that the President doesn’t want to look like he's meddling in the Iranian elections, but at what point does the President's position that he is willing to speak with the Ahmadinejad government bolster the Ahmadinejad regime?
And is there a time when he would suspend that offer as the election results go through a contestation?
Q Is that a word?
MR. GIBBS: I'm almost sure
that it's not. (Laughter.) But leaving that aside for one moment --
Q It's a print guy that made up -- (laughter.)
MR. GIBBS: I don't know, let me say,
if that's -- I'm going to do my crossword puzzle tonight; I don't know if that's
-- look, I would say this, Jonathan. The concerns that we have about Iran are no different than we had last Thursday or last Friday. Our primary concerns are obviously the state sponsorship and the spread of terror, and their efforts to secure a nuclear weapon. Those interests -- our interests are no different today than they were before the election. The President remains committed to strong action and principled diplomacy to address our national interests; that our interest haven't changed regardless of ultimately who the Iranians pick.

No facts, no answers, just fun.

Illinois Stimulus Pork - The Chicago Way

Obama declared "no pork money in the stimulus (787 billion dollar) bill." That is, unless it goes to his pals Dick Durbin, Senator of Illinois and pals of his chief of staff Rahm Emmanuel, former congressman from Illinois.

One billion dollars of pork, straight from Obama to spread among Illinois politicians and supporters.

As you look closer and closer at the Obama administration don't you feel like taking a shower?

ABC: the All Barack Channel

ABC, the All Barack Channel, is broadcasting a totally one-sided prime time infomercial from INSIDE THE WHITE HOUSE next week. It will spend an hour and a half selling Barack's new and improved health care plan.

No dissenters allowed. The Republican party is disinvited.

If you need any more evidence that we now have state-controlled media you need to look no farther on the issue. Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-Il, Castro and Obama - control the media - control the people.

WTF is happening in this country?

Whither Obama?

Friday was the last time we heard from Obama regarding the Iranian elections. He praised the "vigorous debate" of ideas before the election. Except that state-run Iranian television and state-sponsored newspapers never provided a forum for debate. Only a forum for Ahmadinejad.

Now we are aware that the election was stolen by the incumbent and his gestapo forces. Hundreds of thousands of voters were cheated and are being beaten and killed in the streets of Tehran because they believed in a democratic vote. It is a gross injustice.

And now Ahmadinejad talks of "purifying" the country. He has jammed BBC broadcasts and shut down Al Aribaya television. Fascism is on the march and there will be blood.

The President of the most powerful democratic country on earth should be outraged and should be saying so. Loudly and forcefully.

Instead Obama remains silent. Right now his silence represents support. For tyranny.

UPDATE:
President Obama said last night, AFTER the mullahs agreed to recount some votes, that he is "deeply troubled" by the violence. He did not mention who was to blame the government or the protesters. Weak, yet perfectly in accordance with Obama's Apology and Appeasement '09 tour of the MidEast last month.
.

The Chicago Way, Re: Inspector Generals

So you're an Inspector General and you decide to look into how Americorps is spending government money and you find corruption. Unfortunately for you you've overstepped your bounds, because the corruptor happens to be a big Obama supporter and friend. And since you haven't backed off as requested - you're fired!

How many days would this be a front page story at the NY Times during the Bush years? CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC would lead with this for about a week. Main stream media today? Crickets.

And our "transparent" Obama administration continues to break the law when it comes to letting the public know what's going on behind the curtain.

Here's a quote from a piece of legislation - now law - that Obama signed. Hat tip Michelle Malkin.

“If an Inspector General is removed from office or is transferred to
another position or location within an establishment, the President shall communicate in writing the reasons for any such removal or transfer to both Houses of Congress, not later than 30 days before the removal or transfer.”

I don't mind that Obama has new ideas about certain things...but let's not kid ourselves, he is a self-serving politician of the highest order.

They'll Love Us Around the World!

Internationally it's fair to say that people think Obama is handsome, his wife is beautiful, and his two children are cute. Lots of paparrazzi hanging around. But most people seem to realize that beauty and teleprompter glibness are skin deep.

Just 29 percent of Iranians said they have favorable views of the United States in the latest poll, which was conducted last month. In a similar survey in February 2008 — nearly a year before Barack Obama became president — 34 percent had positive opinions about the U.S.

Who knew George Bush was such a popular guy?

Hope and Change Ambassadorships in the New America

If you gave enough money or raised enough money for the Obama or Biden campaigns you got yourself in line for an Ambassadorship to a cool country like Belgium. People without enough money to give to Obama? Forget it. No Ambassadorship for you.

President Barack Obama on Thursday tapped four big Democratic Party donors for plum ambassadorships in Europe and Latin America while naming six career diplomats to posts in Africa, the Mideast and the Pacific.

Everything Obama has done; surround himself with lobbyists, rammed through legislation with no time for voters to see it, giving away jobs (Ambassadorships in this case)to people of money and influence smacks of old Beltway Washington. This is your change agent folks "bringing government back to voters". Uh, huh.

Letterman a chauvinist? Move on, nothing to see here.

Double standards abound in feminists' circles. If you can be somehow classified as a liberal or at least a Democrat, anything goes. Clinton was beloved by feminists even after it was proven that the guy is clearly a misogynist borne out by his abuse of women. A peep from feminists? Nope. Barack Obama routinely refers to female reporters as "sweetie" and "darlin'". Crickets.

And David Letterman whom I used to like until a few years ago when it became apparent that all his humor is politically one-sided, pointed out Monday night Sarah Palin's "slutty flight attendant look" and predicted a Yankee baseball player would enter the stands to rape Palin's 14 year old daughter. Feminists? Anything? Feminists?

The credibility of the movement suffers when you can only be a chauvinist if your beliefs run counter to democrat talking points. Hypocrisy - the mother's milk of liberalism.

It's everywhere.
