Obama Plays Politics on the Pipeline, Strains Canada Relations

The Obama administration is delaying a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline designed to carry Canadian crude to Gulf Coast refineries for 12 to 18 months, enough time to get past the election next year.  Had Obama allowed the pipeline it would have helped the consumer with cheaper energy but angered Democrat donors and possibly voters. It also would have been a great boon to our neighbors to the north.  Canadians feel betrayed.

"That a publicly traded Canadian company, with transparent governance and processes based in a free and democratic society can be subject to this kind of treatment does not bode well for companies from other countries seeking to invest in the U.S.

The U.S. companies with operations in Canada, especially those operating in the oilsands, should be feeling mighty betrayed that their own government doesn't appear to understand the economics behind the need for this kind of continental energy infrastructure."

Of course this will also curb oil sands development in North Dakota, an area that was also going to utilize this pipeline. The development in that area is enormous and right now there are 15,000 jobs of all kinds just waiting to be filled.

This pipeline decision will turn that area into a ghost town within a year or two.

But Obama, voting "present" instead of making a decision, is much more concerned with gainin some sort of political advantage.

Gingrich Rising

Since his Lincoln-Douglas style debate over the weekend Newt Gingrich has gained serious momentum in the Republican presidential primary battle.  He leads in the latest Iowa caucus polls.  Once considered an also ran and often overlooked as a guy too wonky to appeal to the average Republican Joe, Gingrich is recreating his brand to be more concise, still intelligent, yet understandable.  It will continue to serve him well. Depending on how Herman Cain survives the latest MSM onslaught about the sexual harassment charges,  Gingrich's fortunes could be boosted sooner rather than later.

Voters in the general election will want someone ready to tackle the deficit, the unemployment mess and to keep an eye on Iran.  Gingrich is clearly superior to Romney in perceived foreign policy knowledge (it's all about perception after all) and Romney holds the cards with respect to the economy.  Neither are slouches when it comes to either issue, however and this will keep both of them near the front of the pack.

Indeed, a new sensation for Gingrich.

But with the new "flavor of the day" title, Gingrich must gird his loins for the Legacy Media onslaught.  Newt has a few skeletons and the Journolisters are busily planning their coordinated attack.

I call BS on the "anonymous accuser" of Herman Cain

A bright, outspoken black man speaks out against a black president every day.  His legitimacy can not be questioned. He cannot be dismissed as most critics of Obama are as "racially motivated".  This is very, very scary, troubling, worrisome and annoying to the Democrats and the Washington cabal benefitting every day from the Obama huge government largesse.

Thus, anonymous victims of sexual harassment are dug up to bring this very difficult Republican candidate down.

It's not that Democrats think Herman Cain would ever have a shot at beating Obama.  It's that he just Needs. To. Be. Silenced.

Herman Cain. The Latest Liberal Lynching

Clarence Thomas went through hell in his confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.  He is black and conservative.  Democrats excoriated him for an unsubstantiated claim by Anita Hill that he liked to make sexually suggestive comments.  We were treated to days and days of televised testimony meant to bring this man down.  The lynch mob was lead and consisted solely of liberal politicians.  Thomas survived these politicians and a bloodthirsty mainstream liberal media to serve as a distinguished voice for constitutionalists on the Court.

There have been other African Americans attacked by liberal politicians and media; Michael Steele, Condoleezza Rice, Cong. Allen West and many others.  Liberals believe that African Americans are their voting block, in a weird shall we say, plantation owner way.  When a black person doesn't adhere to the democrat party line it's open season.

Just ask Herman Cain.

But Charles Rangel and Maxine Waters, both under indictment for corruption.....nothing to see here, move along.  And of course if you should be curious about these two cases...where the evidence has already been proven, you are a racist.

Skin color matters to democrats only when it serves their agenda. And thankfully more and more people of color are figuring that out.

BEST Blows Up

So last week the BEST program of climate research (Berkeley) announced it's results to an anxious pro global warming media.  And surprise surprise this non-peer reviewed study showed consistent warming.
The Economist and all other mainstream media outlets were relieved to announce this information. Humans, they concluded, are clearly heating up the planet with the CO2 gases that are released into the air (breathing and coal plants).  Most skeptics of anthropogenic global warming cried foul.  No peer review?  Only land based data? Note: ocean data, has never indicated warming in any studies. None of this counter commentary made it into the frightening articles that were being written.

But uh-oh the co-author of the study has rocked the boat and in fact may have swamped the tub.  The skeptics main complaint is that the last 11 years have shown a flat global temperature completely proving wrong the claim that increased CO2 is warming the planet.
Judith Curry is embarrassed to be associated with this study since it clearly had planned all along to mislead and ignore important information.

Hiatus: Over

Apologies to Jourtegrity Lost fans. We're back and ready to rock.

Lizzie Warren Channels Al Gore in a Bad PR Week

So first, candidate for the US Senate Democrat nomination in Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren says she wants "hicks" to vote for her, or at least the "elite hick" voting block.  Being a Harvard professor I'm not sure the hicks in Massachusetts are ready to bear the torches for her. Being the only state that voted for George McGovern in '72 the hick vote is presumably fairly small.

Then, in a Daily Beast interview, she claims to have created the "intellectual foundation" for the Occupy Wall Street crowd.  Huh? What kind of affliction causes ultra-libs to lay claim to creating, inventing things that really have no tangible genesis?

The issue here is what kind of person is Elizabeth Warren?  It seems that inveterate fabricators such as Al Gore (invented the internet and who claimed his life is the basis for A Love Story) can't help themselves.  Al still makes wild claims about Global Warming (Florida and Manhattan are doomed to being flooded and so much more nonsense).

What will Elizabeth claim next?  Stay tuned.

John Lennon was a Republican

I get such a kick out of the discoveries of various Hollywood stars as conservative/Republicans.  It always makes the lefties freak out just a little. It really is quite delicious. Adam Sandler, Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, Gary Sinese, James Woods, Patricia Heaton.... and with the abject failure of the current Dems in the White House and Senate it appears the list is growing.

Here's a doozy. Free love and anti-establishment Beatle John Lennon was a Reagan fan in his later years and was embarrassed with his antics as a young man.

Middle America? Just a Bunch of "Low Sloping Foreheads"

From New York Times columnist David Carr on the Bill Maher show on HBO. No bias or elitism in the Main Stream Media though.

Holy Sh*t.

I Call BS on the RCP Quote from Michelle Obama

Real Clear Politics has a video from CNN that has Michelle O saying that " we have help from the media" etc..  People who pay attention believe that the Obamas certainly do have help from the media by portraying only positive things and eschewing any negative reporting about the Obama administration.  In this case however, RCPs headline is unfair.  Michelle O was talking about how the media protects the family's privacy. Knock it off RCP there's plenty of actual bias to report, there is no need to twist the First Lady's words.

From CNN:

On daughters: "Fortunately, we have help from the media. I have to say this: I am very grateful for the support and kindness that we've gotten. People have respected their privacy, and in that way, no matter what people may feel about my husband's policies or what-have-you, they care about children, and that's been good to see.

It makes you look silly and of course, biased to the right.

JL's weekly - Imagine if Bush had Said/Done This Moment

In announcing his accelerated drawdown of troops from Afghanistan President Obama wanted to announce his decision at Fort Drum , you know - to show the troops that Obama is tight with them and has their support.  The only problem is he made a very glaring mistake in confusing recent Medal of Honor winners - one alive and one dead.

Blackfive has the story. Imagine if President Bush had made an error like this, the media circus would be in high ridicule mode with much laughing and pointing.  Jon Stewart on the Daily Show would wocka-wocka this one for a week.  Instead, not a peep.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Al Gore, What a Piece of Work.

Al in his own words tells a young woman that women need to be empowered to save the planet.  How? They need to realize that too many babies ruins the planet. They need to get their contraceptive act together.  Al, who has already proven how sensitive he is to womens' issues thinks men don't have any responsibility in this too many babies thing.

Al goes on in his next clip telling us all about the terrible droughts in Arizona, Texas and Russia and about the terrible floods along the Mississippi and in Australia.  The great thing about Global Warming activists like Al is that droughts AND floods are to be blamed by CO2 and that lots of snow and no snow are the fault of CO2 and that a month with lots of tornadoes followed by a month with nearly no tornadoes....well you get the idea. But most importantly of course, this all makes Al very, very rich.

My daughter is a mega-feminist (and I'm pretty pro most of the feminist agenda myself).  She's also a global warminista and thinks Al Gore is a peoples' champion, but with this tripe above and the "sex-crazed poodle" stuff, when do you step back a bit and call an idiot an idiot?

ObamaCare Waivers Do Not Disproportionately Favor Unions

Much of the whining and kavetching about ObamaCare waivers going to unions is apparently misplaced.  Data show that unions are denied at a fairly high rate and that the denials and acceptances seem to be directly related to health plan costs.  So conservative bloggers etc - chill about this.

Jay Carney, Baghdad Bob of Washington

How do you take a job like this?  Robert Gibbs, Obama's first press secretary was such a snarky jerk that you wanted to leave a flaming bag of dog waste on his doorstep and ring the doorbell.  This new guy Jay Carney is not so snarky yet, but you can almost hear the snark bacteria making its way from Gibbsy's old letter opener onto Carney's presidential seal coffee mug.  It's coming.

Here's how Jay responded to a question at the press briefing about the debt ceiling.

And I would just remind people that the vote to raise the debt ceiling is not a vote for spending.  It is a vote to pay our debts, to pay our obligations.  And we are the largest economy in the world, the most important economy in the world, absolutely vital to the successful functioning of the financial markets.  And this is about being responsible.

Being responsible. Wow

Barack Obama, just another pol.

Rahm and Barack brought their brand of ChicagoLand pay-as-you-go politics to Washington after promising to bring hope and change.  It is the worst kind of bait and switch and the voters of all stripes took the bait hook, line and sinker.  The Obama White House is as corrupt as it gets but Barack's media protectors continue to lie about this administration.  It is truly unbelievable.

Most of the stimulus money went to pay off Barack's supporters.

More than two years after Obama took office vowing to banish “special interests” from his administration, nearly 200 of his biggest donors have landed plum government jobs and advisory posts, won federal contracts worth millions of dollars for their business interests or attended numerous elite White House meetings and social events, an investigation by iWatch News has found.
These “bundlers” raised at least $50,000 — and sometimes more than $500,000 — in campaign donations for Obama’s campaign. Many of those in the “Class of 2008” are now being asked to bundle contributions for Obama’s reelection, an effort that could cost $1 billion.

Such promise, such failure.  Read the whole thing at Politico, it is so disheartening.

Next Investigative Task? Help WaPo, NY Times, HuffPo and the Guardian - Parse the Book of Mormon

Given that the scouring of the 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin's emails by the above named pillars of journalism has resulted in no scathing corruption, embarrassment or indictiment of the Palin family, it is time for said muckrakers to turn their attention to Mitt Romney as he has been annointed the early front runner for the Republican presidential nomination.

Please help the leftist media devour some more light reading.  The price is too high, the potential damage is too great - get your Kindles, Nooks and Ipads out and find out what devilish dogma Romney has been living by his whole life. Read every page of the Book of Mormon and get back to us. It is your duty as a US citizen to enlighten the masses with every bit of horrific right wing propaganda that you can!

And oil up those torches and sharpen up those pitchforks because if we don't take down any Republican challenge to Obama things could really get bad around here!

The Madness Continues. We Must Defeat the Monster Palin Together!

Sarah Palin holds no political office.  Sarah Palin is not running for President.  Sarah Palin did not text sexually suggestive pictures of herself to young men.  Sarah Palin is not the dictator of some Middle Eastern country that is under siege by revolutionaries. Sarah Palin is not responsible for the worst economic times our country has suffered in 80 years.  Sarah Palin is not.....well you get the point by now.

The New York Times and the Washington Post have decided that Sarah Palin's emails as Governor of Alaska are akin to the Pentagon Papers in their import to the readers of their respective boutique newspapers.  They want a FULL and THOROUGH investigation of the emails.

That's journalism today folks, emails from Sarah Palin trump probably 30 or 40 other stories that might help  to give readers insight as to why our economy sucks, our president is inept, and why we are dropping bombs illegally on Libya and Yemen.

It would be funny if it weren't so insanely pitiful. The Times and WaPo ...all the news that's fit to spit.

Update: Jon Stewart pulls back the curtain. See imbedded video above.

Check out Ryan's Medicare Plan Video

Rep Paul Ryan head of the House Budget Committee is privy to the very paltry numbers on which our government is currently propped. Entitlements are killing us and they simply need reform. Dems and a few Repubs have voted down his plan to correct the Medicare problem. They're very proud and sure that this is the method that will win them back the House. And it might, because the media will support their scare tactics that will have seniors believing that Medicare and Social Security will disappear in this plan.

Truth is, we are on the road to ruin and will have a collapse of our economy and governement underpinnings on a par with Greece, Italy, Portugal, Iceland and several other European countries that have unsustainable socialist programs that rival Medicare and Social Security.

Kicking the can down the road (to borrow a well worn phrase) without any attempt to fix the problems of the deficit and entitlements is what Obama and the Dems want to do. The only person with courage enough to even suggest that changes need to be made in Medicare is Ryan. His you tube video is worth spending under 5 minutes on.

JL's weekly - Imagine if Bush had Said/Done This Moment

Obama so badly screwed up a scheduled toast to the Queen in his trip to England that everyone present shuddered with embarassment. Apparently Obama was so proud that he memorized the last 3 words of his index card notes that he placed them down, triggering the orchestra. The toast was finished with the orchestra playing loudly, Obama put down his drink and no one actually drank the toast.

This kind of moment if generated by the previous president would lead all the network news shows and be fodder for MSNBC, the Daily Show and all the other left leaning media (that is to say 95% of the media) for weeks.

Obama does not take kindly to criticism as we've discovered. I'm beginning to think the Obama ineptitude coverup is beyond just liberal bias, I think it extends to self preservation. Check out what happens when you criticize the King.

JL's Weekly - The Headline You Won't See in the MSM Is...

The Expected Jump in the Readjusted First Quarter GDP to 2.2% from 1.8% Didn't Actually Happen.

The rate stayed at 1.8% but NPR touted that we would see a jump to 2.2% in it's top stories this morning. That is until the actual report came out.

Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and property
located in the United States -- increased at an annual rate of 1.8 percent in the first quarter of 2011, (that is, from the fourth quarter to the first quarter), according to the "second" estimate released by the Bureau
of Economic Analysis. In the fourth quarter, real GDP increased 3.1 percent.

The GDP estimates released today are based on more complete source data than were available for the "advance" estimate issued last month. In the advance estimate, the increase in real GDP was also 1.8 percent

We are deep into Obama's 3rd year of his presidency and the economy is stagnant. 17.3 million people are out of work yet the Main Stream Media is still trying to prop up this administration's horrible economic policies.

More great numbers you won't see.

Real imports of goods and services increased 7.5 percent, in
contrast to a decrease of 12.6 percent compared to the previous quarter.

Real federal government consumption expenditures and gross investment decreased 7.9 percent in the first quarter, compared with a decrease of 0.3 percent in the fourth.

Newt Bounces Back

Gingrich looked punch drunk after the Tea Party roughed him up when he criticized Paul Ryan's deficit reduction package.  His poll numbers were at 6% and pundits were counting him out as recently as the past weekend.  But...Newt saw the error of his ways, and came out with a resounding Tea Party flavored plan that pulls no fiscal punches.  It includes; eliminating the estate tax, eliminating the capital gains tax, and lowering the corporate tax to 12.5% among other conservative fiscal machinations.  This plan is real, and there will be no going back.  He spoke on CNBC.

I think this plan by Newt will reinvigorate his campaign and sends a message to the Tea Party ("I'm your guy") and to the other candidates ("State your plans clearly or risk looking indecisive.").

Newt has shaken things up.

The Iron Political Fist of Barack Obama

He's a hard nosed politician borne of Chicagoland politics where you "punish your enemies" and "reward those that stand beside you" - Obama's own words.   Why would it surprise us that he wants to know exactly where potential federal contractors spend their political dollars?  What better way to separate your friends from your enemies? Senator Mitch McConnell thinks Obama's latest threatened executive order is heinous.

“Now, under the guise of ‘transparency,’ the Obama administration reportedly wants to know the political leanings of any company or small business, including those of their officers and directors, before the government decides if they’ll award them federal contracts.”

Stalin would be proud.  Thomas Jefferson not so much.

Netanyahu's Speech to AIPAC was not a Love Poem to Obama

As the Main Stream Media reported it.  Yes, he took the high road and did not disparage Obama as he clearly could have for Obama's speech last week demanding a return to the 1967 borders which essentially would re-divide Jerusalem.  He basically said he thought Obama was a friend of Israel.  That had to be a bitter statement to spit out.

What he also said was, of course, not reported in the Main Stream Media.  It was a clear and cogent explanation of the Israel/Palistine issue.

It’s time to stop blaming Israel for all of the region’s problems.
Let me stress one thing.
Peace between Israelis and Palestinians is a vital need for us.
Peace would be the realization of a powerful and eternal dream.
But it is not a panacea for the endemic problems of the Middle East.
It will not give women in some Arab countries in the Middle East the right to drive a car.
It will not prevent Churches from being bombed.
It will not keep journalists out of jail.
What will change all this?  One word.
Democracy.  Real, genuine, democracy.
By democracy, I don’t just mean elections.
I mean Freedom of Speech.  Freedom of the Press.  Freedom of Assembly.
The Rule of Law.   Rights for women, for gays, for minorities, for everyone.
What the people of the Middle East need is what you have in America, and what we have in Israel.
It’s time to recognize this basic truth:
Israel is not what’s wrong about the Middle East.
Israel is what’s right about the Middle East.
My Friends,
Israel wants peace because we know the pain of terror and the agony of war.
We want peace because we know the blessings peace could bring to us and to our Palestinian neighbors.
But if we hope to advance peace with the Palestinians, then it is time that we admitted another truth.
This conflict has raged for nearly a century because the Palestinians refuse to end it.
They refuse to accept the Jewish state.
This is what this conflict has always been about.
There are many issues that must be resolved between Israelis and Palestinians.
We can and must resolve them.
But I repeat.  We can only make peace with the Palestinians if they are prepared to make peace with the Jewish state.

George Soros has Control of Your Brain

While a critic of biased journalism, I freely admit that Fox News is biased in a rightward fashion.  But facts are stubborn things.  The Fox website is in the middle of a 3 part expose of George Soros mega-billionaire- socialist and his financial iron grip on American media. For instance, Soros is the largest single funder of Columbia School of Journalism.

Soros funds more than just the most famous journalism school in the nation. There are journalism industry associations like:
• The National Federation of Community Broadcasters;
• The National Association of Hispanic Journalists;
• And the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Readers unhappy with Soros’ media influence might be tempted to voice concerns to the Organization of News Ombudsmen – a professional group devoted to “monitoring accuracy, fairness and balance.” Perhaps they might consider a direct complaint to one such as NPR’s Alicia Shepard or PBS’s Michael Getler, both directors of the organization. Unfortunately, that group is also funded by Soros. At the bottom of the Organization of News Ombudsmen’s website front page is the line: “Supported by the Open Society Institute,” a Soros foundation. It is the only organization so listed.

It's as if we're all unwitting protagonists in the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.  Everywhere you turn to report extreme journalism bias is run by people with extreme journalism bias.  The movie Serpico also comes to mind.

The Obama White House is far more Nixonian than Nixon's was

If you control the media you control the people. Socialist Saul Alinksy knew this and so does the Obama administration. It's not enough that research shows that 85% of "journalists" consider themselves liberal and the media treatment of Democrats and Obama proves it, but the heavy handed nature of media control by Obama is getting out of hand.

The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama’s Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper’s front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news “fairly.” “I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters,” White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.
The young kids and white haired liberal fat cats who support this guy are getting jobbed and of course they neither see it, or if they do, they won't accept it. It's the worst kind of herd mentality. I'm embarrassed for Obama supporters and disgusted with the media.

It Pays to Support Pelosi

So the latest batch of waivers for ObamaCare included 38 businesses in Nancy Pelosi's district. You probably didn't catch that little fact in the New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post or the hundreds of other legacy media outlets. It's a bit of a sticky wicket that is simply not "fit to print".

So let's do the math of fairness...38 companies times 435 congressional districts means 16,530 companies should get waivers for ObamaCare! Then the Senators...I wonder what they're expecting?

It pays to be a FON - Friend of Nancy.

Not a Peep from the Liberal Press

Apparently it is more important for the press to report for weeks on President Obama's series of victory laps on the Osama Bin Laden death than it is to do actual reporting.

Union thugs have been accused of beatings and other harassment by some members of their rank and file for reporting illegal union schemes. Unions have always been for the people who run them and not for the workers who contribute giant union dues to prop them up.

The main stream media thinks there's nothing to see here - just move along.
